Umberto and Laura Drago founded Drago in 1973 in Lessona, in the Biella province of Piedmont. The Drago family expanded the operation in subsequent decades. In 1993 the family acquired Lanificio Fintes, expanding the structure and adding a separate fabrics division to the operation. In 2001 Fintes was formally incorporated into the Drago Group, consolidating the Drago Lanificio in Biella brand under a single mill identity.

Today the mill runs a vertical fully integrated operation in Lessona, with spinning, weaving, and finishing on the same site. Annual production reaches about 1.7 million meters of cloth, exported worldwide.
